Call Us: 833-I-AM-ARRL

For more than 100 years, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) was the organization we’ve trusted to openly serve its membership and advocate for amateur radio in the United States. Over the past two years, that has changed… by a range of troubling policy and governance actions taken by the League’s leadership.

The purpose of myARRLvoice is to inform fellow ARRL members and to encourage them to convey their feelings to the ARRL Board and management.

Your Voices Were Heard!

Thanks to all who made your voices heard.  The ARRL Board chose at its January 2018 meeting to take first steps to improve transparency and decided to maintain the status quo on member rights. We are pleased to learn several provisions we questioned in the “Code of Conduct” were rolled back and further revisions are to be considered.

The ARRL Board of Directors took action on a number of items at its Annual Meeting, January 19-20, in Windsor, Connecticut, including adopting a motion to a review the entire code of conduct for Board members, known officially as the ARRL Policy on Board Governance and Conduct of Members of the Board of Directors and Vice Directors. ARRL Officers, Directors, and Vice Directors will review the code of conduct and complete a final draft version 60 days ahead of the Board’s July 2018 meeting.

But this is just a beginning. We believe the efforts of the past few weeks and the decisions taken at the January Board meeting are only the first steps in a collaborative process that will lead ARRL governance to a place where the following principles define the way we decide our future:

Transparency
ARRL members should have timely access to information about current initiatives and proposed actions that impact them, and they should know the positions their Directors take and how they vote;

Governance
ARRL should be managed efficiently and always remain accountable, open and accessible to its members.  Democratic principles and due process should always prevail – favoring the Member;

Accountability
Members should have the opportunity to express their views on any matter before the Board in advance of Board action.  Directors have an obligation to take member views and opinions into consideration on all matters of policy.

To maintain momentum, ARRL members need an open and active communication channel to share ideas and concerns with fellow Amateurs and with their ARRL representatives.  myARRLvoice.org will continue our analysis efforts and provide guidance that you can use locally to pursue solutions.  We encourage ARRL members to seek out other information sources as well.

Please explore myARRLvoice.org and learn what you need to know to be an informed ARRL member and voter.  If there is something missing please let us know.  We listen.
